Wavertree Botanic Gardens is a 36-acre park in Wavertree, South Liverpool, built around a Victorian botanic garden with geometric flowerbeds and a listed 19th-century drinking fountain. There’s a children’s playground near the southwest entrance, plus a sports pavilion and open playing fields for older kids to run around on. It’s a quieter, greener alternative to the bigger city parks, good for a gentle visit with younger children. Parking is on the surrounding streets. The play area is clean, but it’s geared more towards children under 8, so older kids might find it a bit boring.

Visited September 2026. A big, clean playground in a lovely setting. Most of the equipment is aimed at younger children, so it’s ideal for under 8s, but older kids may find it a bit limited.
