Princes Park Playground is in Princes Park, Toxteth, South Liverpool, one of the city’s oldest Victorian parks, with a lake, woodland and plenty of open green space.
There are two places to play. The fenced playground is fairly small and a bit run down, with swings, spring riders and climbing frames. Right next to it on the grass is a natural play area with a slide built into a grassy mound, wooden swings and a see-saw, and along the park path there’s outdoor gym equipment for grown-ups.
There are no toilets or café in the park or nearby. Parking is on the surrounding roads, and it’s a 3 to 4 minute walk to the playground. It’s a good choice for combining a play with a walk, run or bike ride round the lake.

Visited September 2026. A nice, clean park with a lake and a great location for family fun. It’s also ideal for a run, walk or bike ride once you’ve finished at the playground. The playground itself is small and a bit run down, but the outdoor gym at the side and the wooden swings in the natural play area right next to it make up for it. There are no toilets or café, and nothing nearby. Just for the playground I’d give it 2 stars, but my rating takes the whole park into account, as there’s plenty to do besides the playground.
My kids love playing in this park. Even though it’s a small playground, the gym equipment and the wooden swing on the side of it are fun
