Key dates for Year 7 (September 2027)
- 1 September 2026: applications opened
- 31 October 2026: closing date for applications
- 1 March 2027: National Offer Day, when you find out your school
- March to June 2027: appeals
- 30 June 2027: induction day for new Year 7s
Late applications are accepted, but the council says you are less likely to get one of your preferred schools.
How to apply
- Apply through Liverpool City Council if you live in Liverpool, even if you want a school in another area.
- You can list up to five schools, in order of preference. Use all five to give yourself the best chance.
- Some schools ask for a supplementary form as well as the council application, often faith schools. Check each school’s admissions page and send it by the deadline.
- A few schools have their own tests or assessments, such as fair banding, and these can have earlier deadlines. Check the admissions policy of every school on your list.

Reception applications are separate. They close on 15 January 2027, you can list up to three schools, and offers come out on 16 April 2027. Apply on the council website.
