Bonfire Night displays: what we know

We’ll add each display here with dates, times and prices as soon as it’s confirmed.

  • St Helens: the council display at Sherdley Park usually takes place around 5 November. We’re waiting for 2026 details.
  • Wirral: Wirral Council no longer runs its own displays, but it approves local community bonfires and usually publishes the list in late October. West Kirby Sailing Club has held displays in recent years, and Tranmere Rovers’ 2026 dates are listed above.
  • Liverpool: no council display has been announced yet. We’ll list local and community displays as they’re confirmed.

Tips for Bonfire Night with little ones

  • Go early. Many displays have an earlier, smaller show for younger children, or you can leave straight after the display to beat the crowds.
  • Ear defenders make a big difference for babies, toddlers and children who find loud noises hard.
  • Glow sticks instead of sparklers for under 5s. Sparklers get hotter than a cooking hob. For older children, use gloves, hold them at arm’s length and put finished ones straight into a bucket of water.
  • Wrap up warm and take a torch. Park paths are dark after displays.
  • Agree a meeting point in case anyone gets separated, and put your phone number on a sticker inside younger children’s coats.

Staying safe on Bonfire Night

  • Keep pets indoors, close the curtains and put the TV or radio on.
  • Sparklers: one each, gloves on, hold at arm’s length, and put finished ones in a bucket of water. Not recommended for under 5s.
  • At displays, stay behind the barriers and follow the stewards’ directions.
  • Keep little ones close in the dark and crowds, and agree a meeting point.

Quieter ways to enjoy Bonfire Night

  • River of Light (free, city centre, until 1 November)
  • Watch displays from a distance, from a high spot or even from home
  • Bonfire Night painting with straws and paint, or glitter jars, for a cosy night in
